Goal
Customs Compliance Specialist supports and ensures AOC compliance with customs laws and regulations. This role will work closely with the Custom & Trade Compliance Coordinator.
The Customs Compliance Specialist ensures that AOC has full compliance of customs related activities, performs all customs control procedures, and follows up on strategies and activities relevant to customs Compliance and risk management.
Functional Specific Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with customs audits.
- Advice on the application of customs procedures.
- Execute procedures and controls to ensure compliant and timely exports or imports.
- Verification, management, and archiving of customs documents and declarations
- Contact with suppliers to clarify any discrepancies in the documentation
- Commodity classification
- Contact with Customs Authorities
- Creating summaries and preparing reports
- Verification of import and export documents in terms of formal requirements
- Check and verify customs documentation in SAP
- Support preparation for customs audits and management reporting
Qualifications
- Operational experience in export/import customs operations
- Experience in interpreting and providing guidance on EU customs
- In-depth knowledge of EU customs laws
- Have a degree in a business-related discipline, customs law, logistics, commercial, engineer or economics, or proven record of operational work in the listed areas
Experience
- 3 to 5 years, of operational experience in the domain of customs
- Proven experience with data management and analysis
