Role:
An in-house Legal Counsel role within the General Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) legal team of Aramco Overseas Company B.V., a Dutch subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, handling a variety of legal matters concerning operations and investments across Europe, the US and Asia.
Generally Looking for:
A certified (bar admitted - MUST HAVE), experienced, Netherlands-based, English-speaking attorney with 5-10 years of experience, including working in private practice or for a multinational, in the field of commercial contracts and corporate law. A resilient lawyer, thriving when challenged with multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment, collaborating with business to develop deal structures and mitigate associated risks.
Functional Specific Responsibilities
You will be a key contributor to the Company’s legal team, the management and business units in the Netherlands and its foreign (affiliate) offices and investments. You will report to the GC&C lead. This team consists of 4 core team members and is supported by other members of the wider legal team, 16 in total.
Your work will include:
- Advising on a wide range of matters and across the jurisdictions in which we operate, including contracts, compliance, litigation, regulatory developments, new business development, strategy and processes;
- Being a business partner and first line of support to internal and external clients;
- Drafting templates in support of our contract teams and other clients, and support as needed in negotiating, reviewing and advising on all types of contracts, including contracts for procurement of material, software and services, MOUs, LOIs, SPAs, intercompany agreements, engineering agreements, R&D agreements, joint venture agreements, and shareholder agreements;
- General corporate housekeeping support to clients;
- Guidance to the paralegal staff; and
- Training clients on relevant regulatory developments.
What you bring:
- EU or US bar admittance (others will be considered);
- A Law degree from a recognized, accredited institution;
- Excellent English skills, both written and verbal;
- A minimum of 5-10 years working in private practice (at least 2 years) and as an in-house attorney (preferably in a multinational or oil and gas company). Advanced qualification(s) or other work experience may be considered to contribute as work experience;
- Demonstrable knowledge in Corporate Law and Contract Law as a primary legal domain, deeper knowledge of intellectual property law or other field(s) of law is a plus;
- Proficiency in working autonomously while seamlessly collaborating within an international team. Demonstrable ability to engage effectively with clients across various functions and professionally represent the organization in interactions with external parties, including law firms;
- Enthusiasm, energy, hands-on mentality, flexibility and humor;
- A mindset that embraces the challenges of delivering high quality work within deadlines, or working on new factual or legal topics, or in new jurisdictions;
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills within and across teams to break down barriers and achieve team goals; and
- Willingness for occasional travel.
