Role Overview
The Specialist Finance Analyst is a senior individual contributor role that operates as a strategic and operational extension of the CFO. The position provides expert financial leadership, coordination, and analytical support across the full breadth of the finance function, including financial planning, treasury, controlling, reporting, tax, compliance, and governance.
The role combines high level financial analysis with hands on execution and project oversight. It plays a critical role in supporting executive decision making, ensuring strong financial discipline, and delivering finance related initiatives that have material organisational impact. The position operates with significant autonomy and requires the ability to manage complex, sensitive, and cross functional matters while maintaining a strong control environment.
Key Objectives of the Role

- Ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and regulatory alignment

Core Responsibilities
Strategic Finance Support to the CFO
- Act as a principal finance advisor to the CFO, providing high quality financial analysis, insight, and recommendations
- Independently manage complex and sensitive finance assignments on behalf of the CFO
- Prepare briefing materials, management presentations, and analytical packs for executive and board level discussions
- Support follow up and execution of strategic and operational priorities agreed at senior leadership level
Financial Planning, Analysis and Performance Management
- Lead and support budgeting, forecasting, long range planning, and performance analysis activities
- Analyse financial results, trends, risks, and variances against budget and strategic objectives
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of management information and reporting
- Develop and enhance reporting frameworks to support informed strategic and operational decision making
Treasury, Liquidity and Financial Risk
- Provide specialist oversight and analysis of treasury activities, liquidity planning, and cash flow management
- Monitor working capital and cash positions to support financial stability and operational continuity
- Support banking relationships, financing activities, and treasury related compliance
- Contribute to financial risk identification and mitigation initiatives
Controlling, Governance and Compliance
- Support financial controlling activities to ensure discipline, transparency, and accountability
- Review financial data, controls, and documentation to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of governance frameworks
- Apply independent judgement to resolve complex financial or operational issues with broad organisational impact
Tax, Audit and Regulatory Coordination
- Coordinate tax, audit, and regulatory activities with internal stakeholders and external advisors
- Support preparation and review of statutory, regulatory, and audit related documentation
- Monitor regulatory developments and support implementation of compliant finance practices
- Act as a key liaison between finance, legal, auditors, tax advisors, and regulators
Finance Projects, Transformation and Process Improvement
- Lead or contribute to finance related projects and wider business initiatives
- Support finance transformation programmes, including standardisation, automation, and process redesign
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and governance requirements to ensure timely delivery
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance financial controls, reporting, and operational effectiveness
Stakeholder Management and Advisory
- Build strong working relationships across finance and business functions
- Act as a central coordination point between finance teams, management, and external partners
- Respond to complex finance related enquiries and provide specialist advice and guidance
- Liaise with banks, auditors, consultants, and external service providers as required
Mergers and Acquisitions Support
- Provide treasury and financial expertise during mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring activities
- Support financial integration, risk assessment, and alignment with group policies
People and Knowledge Contribution
- Informally mentor and support junior finance colleagues
- Share specialist knowledge, best practices, and analytical approaches across the finance function
- Support onboarding and capability building initiatives where needed
Education and Professional Background
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum twelve years of progressive and broad based finance experience within complex organisations
- Proven exposure across multiple finance disciplines, including planning, reporting, treasury, governance, and compliance
- Demonstrated experience supporting senior finance leadership and executive decision making
Professional Qualifications and Additional Expertise
Highly advantageous qualifications and experience include:
- Recognised accounting or finance qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, or CFA
- MBA, particularly with a finance, strategy, or international business focus
- Treasury qualifications such as Certified Treasury Professional or equivalent
- IFRS, internal audit, tax, or governance related certifications
- Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2 or PMP
- Strong ERP and financial systems experience, including SAP or equivalent platforms
- Advanced financial modelling, data analysis, and Excel capability
